First Semester Sports Wrap Up
Each semester, the coaches and athletes of CMS come out to prove why we are so proud to be Bear cubs! Semester one of this school year saw some amazing talent and some really exceptional games. Here is the semester's sports wrap up.
Cross Country
Cross Country starts each year with all grade levels showing off their speed and endurance. Coach Henry said she was very proud of this year's runners and that they all tried their very best.
Football
Football had one of their best seasons ever, ending it undefeated and with Coach Batie being named Coach of the Year! They ended the six game season with five wins and one tie. Of their season, Coach Batie said " It went great because we won."
Volleyball
Girls Volleyball had a rough start at the beginning of the season as Coach Brady had to step away and first year Coach Applebea took up the reins. "Over the course of each game they improved and became more confident. They felt down when they lost, but they should fell proud." Coach Applebea said. "I am so proud of them."
Girls Basketball
The Girls Basketball team had five wins and 3 losses this season and took third place in the district. Coach Funches said she feels proud and grateful to have the opportunity to coach the girls.
Wrestling
The wrestling season ended on Dec 14, with Coach Green and Coach Weigel very proud of the effort they showed. "I want them to be outworking the other teams" said Coach Weigel as they wrapped up the season.
CMS News Goes Live
The Eighth Grade Journalism class at Central has spent the first semester learning all about the ins and outs of reporting the news. Their final project was to put all that hard work together and create a broadcast news program. Click the link below to watch the first episode!
Students and Staff face off in Annual Volleyball Game
Each year, the staff and student's face off against each other in volleyball game. The student side is made up of members of the girls volleyball team and the staff side consist of volunteer members.
Before the game, the CMS Cheerleaders and Dance Team performed to hype up the crowd.
This year the staff were once again victorious over the students, ending the first game in a 25 lead over 23. The students were off to a strong start in the second game, but the staff was able to tie it up and then take the leading ending with a score of 25 to 16. The last game was short due to having to dismiss for the end of the day, but once again teachers took the win.
No matter the outcome of the games, everyone at CMS look forward to the staff versus student games each year!
Game Night Coming to CMS
Students who like games, or just an excuse to hang out with friends, are welcome to come to the CMS Game Night hosted by the Student Council on Jan 16 from 3-5pm. There is no cost to come and it's open to all students. They will have concessions and snacks for sale. Come and have a ball, a dice or a hacky sack!
CMS' First Dance Brings Out the Boogies
The first dance at CMS was all the way back on Nov 1, but we at the Cub Hub forgot to include it in last months edition. Shout out to Mrs Kuch and the Student Council for a great first dance, we look forward to many more.
