New School Building Coming as Bond Passes

The coming years will be bring a lot of changes to Central as the KCKPS School Bond passed on November 5th. The proposed bond was the districts second attempt to approve money for the purpose of building a new school to replace the current building.

The current Central Middle school is over 110 year old and has many short comings, like no accessibility for people with mobility issues.

"Their are stairs everywhere!" says eighth grader Ashley Ipina, "It's tiring to go up and down stair each hour."

The bond will give $180 million for a new Central, a new Argentine, and an addition onto Sumner. But these changes won't happen over night.

"It will be 2 to 3 years before we are in a new school." said Assistant Principal Girard.

But in the mean time, students can be grateful that the community is looking to give them the best future possible with updated facilities.

The People that Make Central Middle School Great!

Ms. Martin - by Ashley Ipina

Ms. Martin is a Social Studies teacher and has been at CMS for 5 years. She is originally from Olath. Ms. Martin got a job in education because she likes helping people learn. What she likes the most about her job is getting to know the students, however she does not like the paper work. Outside of school, Ms Martin likes to read, play Nintendo, and cuddle with her dogs. If Ms. Martin had never gotten a job in education she would of been a evolutionary paleontologist. Something unique about her is that she has Pokémon tattoos on her arm sleeve. The advice she would give to students is “Even thought it’s boring listen, to your teacher”.
