CMS Conferences

Parents and teacher came together for Family Advisory Days on October 23 and 24. These conferences provide an opportunity for family and staff to team up when it comes to helping students succeed. Parents also got information on how to access Infinite Campus, Central's grading platform, as well as how to sign up for volunteering opportunities.

Dinner was made available for families and teachers by the food truck A&J Molcajete.

If you were not able to talk with your student's family advisory teacher, you can reach out to them by email (teacher emails are first name.last name@kckps.org) or by calling the main office at 913-627-6150.

The district will be open for appointments to learn how to access the Infinite Campus parent portal on November 7th, from 10am to 6pm at the KCKPS Welcome Center at 2010 N. 59th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. These appointments will cover how to access the app so that parents can look at student grades, report absences, and update family phone numbers and addresses. You can sign up for an appointment by using this link.

CMS Spooky Story Winners Announced

The Central Middle Storytellers Club hosted a Scary Story Contest for the month of October. Nine Central students submitted spooky stories and poetry for a chance to win cash prizes. This year we are proud to announce 3 overall winners in the contest.

1st Place was awarded to Miriam Iranyumva, 6th Grade, for her story "The Midnight Hunt". Miriam's setting of Ravenswoods is the perfect Halloween destination, because it seems that vampires lurk in Blackwood Forest.

2nd Place was awarded to 7th Grader Dalilah Molina for her story "The Camping Trip", where our heroes come face to face with the dreaded Wendigo, a creature from Native American folklore.

3rd Prize went to 6th Grade Poet Jourdan Smith for her poem Halloween, reminding us of all the fun things we can do during this spooky season. Congratulations writers and look for more contests in the future!

Central Figures

The People that Make Central Middle School Great!

Ms. Kuch - by Ashley Ipina

Ms Kuch has been the Central Middle School Librarian for the past nine years. She has a husband, two daughters, and a cat named Benny. Ms Kuch got a job in education because she wanted to spread love. What she likes most about her job is building relationships with students, however she doesn’t like  having  to waking up early to get to work.  When not at school she likes to play board games, build legos, and read  books. If she had never gotten a job in education, she would of been a geologist. Something unique about Ms Kuch is that she knows how to crochet. Her advice she would give CMS students is “Do things that make you happy not things you think will make other people happy.”

Ms. Howland - by Ashley Ipina

Ms. Howland is an 8th grade ELA and a 6th and 7th AVID teacher. She has been at CMS for 3 years. Ms. Howland has two sisters, two nieces, two nephews, and a twin brother. She got a job in education because she was a para, liked kids and working at schools. She likes getting to know the students but doesn’t like having to wake up early.  Outside of school, she likes watching movies, spending time with family and friends, cooking, listening to music, and going to concerts. If Ms Howland had never gotten a job in education she would of been a nurse. Something unique about her is that she is a twin. Her advice she would give is “it’s ok to ask for help”
